There is something both meditative and practical about drawing the candlelight and the Sabbath stillness into yourself with your hands. ~ Lauren F. Winner, Mudhouse Sabbath
As the stairs spiral up and up, I can feel myself being drawn toward the jewelled tones of the stained glass. There is something calming about the nautilus shape of this stairwell, a stilled hush in the soft lighting. I feel an invitation to enter the stillness, to breath in the hushed air and make its sense of quiet part of my soul. Sabbath can happen on a specific day of the week, or it can happen any time we recognize the opportunity to enter the sacred stillness.
This is Day 4 of 31 Days of Soul Tending and the focus is entering rest. I’m reminding myself that any space can be set aside and made sacred for rest. I’m remembering that rest is not a luxury but something my soul needs to stay healthy and strong. Today is a great time to look for unexpected opportunities to enter the stillness and rest your soul for a few moments.
